Dr. Andrew F. Krepinevich
Writing Award

For the fourth year, the Army Strategist Association is hosting the Andrew F. Krepinevich Jr. Award competition.

The Krepinevich Award is given for the best book manuscript or doctoral dissertation (revised in preparation for publication) by an FA59, CP60, or ASA member on topics related to security policy or strategy.

Submissions are evaluated across five criteria: accessibility, applicability, quality, impact, and authorship. The winner will receive a certificate and will be invited to give a book talk to the ASA membership.

Submissions are due by May 15, 2024. The winner will be presented with the award at the AUSA conference in October 2024. Send your submission to writing@armystrategist.org.

ASA reserves the right to not select an awardee if none of the submissions meet the standard.

Eligibility criteria:

1. Books published in 2019 or later and unpublished dissertations/monographs completed after 2019.

2. An author may submit a manuscript no more than 3 times for consideration.

3. Edited volumes may not be submitted.  Master’s theses and unmodified dissertations may not be submitted.

Note: An individual chapter from an edited volume is eligible for the ASA Article Prize if it meets the word count limits for the Article Prize.

4. Co-authored book manuscripts are permitted.
